Eastman Chemical, a global leader in specialty chemicals, fibers and advanced materials located in Kingsport, Tennessee, engaged Grace Matthews to advise them on their acquisition of Knowlton Technologies, LLC, located in Watertown, New York.

Eastman’s interest was driven by Knowlton’s technical capabilities in wet-laid media prototyping and formulation expertise in non-woven materials. Here, there was a strong strategic fit with Eastman’s fiber business.

The sale of Knowlton was through a traditional broad auction process, and Grace Matthews provided strategic advice on valuation, analysis bid refinement, and negotiations to ensure Eastman was able to succeed in the auction, while paying a fair price.
