Equa-Chlor, Inc.
Equa-Chlor, Inc., a producer of chlorine, caustic soda and hydrochloric acid, sold its Longview, WA manufacturing operations to PPG Industries (NYSE: PPG) of Pittsburgh, PA.
With this acquisition, PPG now operates Equa-Chlor’s former Longview manufacturing plant with 65 former Equa-Chlor, now PPG, employees, producing about 220 tons per day of chlorine. In addition, Equa-Chlor’s former railcar fleet will be integrated into PPG’s rail delivery system, thus enabling PPG to optimize overall railcar usage while reducing future capital requirements and logistics costs. The transaction value was approximately $27 million.
“Grace Matthews was pleased to represent Equa-Chlor in finding a true strategic buyer for their Longview Chlor Alkali business,” said Kevin Yttre, Vice President at Grace Matthews. “It was a good fit for PPG and a great outcome for Equa-Chlor’s employees and other stakeholders. Equa-Chlor provides PPG a first class operation on the West Coast, and allows greater flexibility in servicing caustic, chlorine and hydrochloric acid customers more effectively nationwide.”
