Borregaard Synthesis

Borregaard Synthesis, Inc. (“BSI”) is a supplier of fine chemicals to the medical/photo imaging, pharmaceutical, and specialty chemicals markets. The company is an independent subsidiary of Borregaard, Inc., the chemicals division of the Orkla Group, one of Norway’s largest publicly traded companies.

Management from Borregaard, Inc. contacted Grace Matthews to divest BSI because it was no longer a strategic fit for the parent company. Grace Matthews approached a number of key strategic buyers who could leverage BSI’s modern manufacturing facilities, and ultimately negotiated and structured a sale to PolyCarbon Industries, Inc., including a financing package that allowed BSI to meet its valuation and timing objectives.
