Douglas Mitman, co-founder of Grace Matthews, has advised chemical clients on M&A projects and financing since 1993. Doug has extensive experience in transaction financings, including private equity leveraged buyouts, management buyouts, and debt and/or equity non-control recapitalizations. His chemical sector experience is extremely broad, and includes coatings, adhesives and sealants, inks, plastic colorants and additives, paper and film converting, and water treatment chemicals.

Prior to forming Grace Matthews, Doug established an investment banking office in Prague, The Czech Republic, for a U.S.-based company and went on to develop the transaction financing practice for that firm upon his return from Europe. Before his investment banking career, Doug worked as a Trader for Fidelity Investments in Boston and as a Market Maker for Susquehanna Investment Group on the floor of the American Stock Exchange in New York. Doug was named one of the “40 Under 40” emerging business leaders in Milwaukee in 2004.

Doug, originally from Boston, received his B.A. in Economics from Dartmouth College and his M.B.A., with Highest Distinction, from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University.
